Limericks

I was inspired by the wonderfully written limerick style of poetry on the blog of a new follower of mine, NJ, at https://ametalk.wordpress.com/ to try this style as well. And thank you, sweetie, for your inspiration because trying to write limericks has been so much fun!

I’m ashamed to say, because I am part Irish, that I’ve never tried writing limericks before and they have piqued my creativity immensely.

Limericks are composed of 5 lines in the AA BB A rhyming scheme. The 1st, 2nd, and 5th lines are usually longer than lines 3 and 4. Limericks are traditionally risque or humorous but they can be about other things as well.

I hope you like my attempts at this type of poetry and maybe you would like to try creating limericks yourself!
