I was inspired by the wonderfully written limerick style of poetry on the blog of a new follower of mine, NJ, at to try this style as well. And thank you, sweetie, for your inspiration because trying to write limericks has been so much fun!

I’m ashamed to say, because I am part Irish, that I’ve never tried writing limericks before and they have piqued my creativity immensely.

Limericks are composed of 5 lines in the AA BB A rhyming scheme. The 1st, 2nd, and 5th lines are usually longer than lines 3 and 4. Limericks are traditionally risque or humorous but they can be about other things as well.

I hope you like my attempts at this type of poetry and maybe you would like to try creating limericks yourself!
