A long time ago my daughter, Tara, told me, “Mom, I love you, but you could trip over a dust bunny!” And I laughed and laughed because that was such a great and funny line but then I had to agree with her because that is the truth, unfortunately. I am an infamous klutz and … More My Latest Klutzy Moment
We are so lucky living in Bay City, MI because we get to enjoy not just one night of fireworks celebrating America’s birthday, not two even, but three nights! Bay City has been celebrating the three nights of fireworks, fun, and fabulous festivities for 54 years. (How’s that for alliteration!) But just like the weird … More Happy Birthday America!
Pardon the reference to the 1989 movie “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” but that movie title just seemed so hilariously appropriate for what happened to me and my daughter, Tara, Saturday night, May 21, 2016. I had watched the Preakness horse race earlier that evening, disappointed that my horse, Nyquist, had only come in third … More Tara and Mom’s Not-So Excellent Adventure
The rain became much, much worse during the afternoon in Baltimore, Maryland before the Preakness race was to begin. That track was a boggy, soggy mess. Nyquist, who was undefeated, 8 for 8, before the Preakness, had never raced in that kind of mud before so it was questionable as to how he would fare … More No Triple Crown Winner in 2016
The Preakness, the second jewel in the Triple Crown horse racing series, will be run later today, May 21, 2016. I know a little bit about a lot of things. There are some things I know a lot about. And so, if I haven’t done it, I’ve seen it. If I haven’t seen it, I’ve heard about it. If I haven’t even heard about it, it ain’t been invented yet!
I predicted April 30, 2016 in my post “More Six Word Stories”, https://jeneanebehmeswritings.wordpress.com/2016/04/30/more-six-word-stories/, that Nyquist would win the 1-1/4 mile Kentucky Derby and he did!!! He ran a beautiful swift race and I’m not ashamed to say that I was screaming and yelling and crying when Nyquist was the first under the wire. It has … More Nyquist Wins the Kentucky Derby!!
When someone uses money as bribes to family members to achieve desired behavior, then declares, “It’s not about the money!”, they are lying hypocrites because it really is all about the money. Using bribery money is contemptuous, manipulative and disrespectful and it will rarely earn for you the desired behavior.
If you have forged a career from an education based on unexpected windfalls, that is luck, not achievement. Doing well in college is an achievement but always remember that without your own lucky breaks, you would not have had any achievements. Do not brag and look down on unlucky people.
